Groundwater — Making the Invisible Visible

I am life, but my existence is unseen

My existence is felt, even by the unseen

Relying on what we see is flawed

Hence, what we see is not conquered

You live not just by sight, but if unsafe by flight

Yet, you disregard me because you do not see me

I supply vitality sources for humans

I help provide hydration to plants, as I do human

Yet, I am not referenced by those I help keep their lives.

They have pets they are more concerned for, but I keep the pets alive.

Giving you life is good, but not at the expense of losing mine

I am dying from misuse and abuse

All I ask for is responsible use

Knowing me is good, but knowing I am being depleted is better

Always strive for better

You see the effect of my depletion everyday

From reduced stream flows, rivers drying up & loss of vegetation, you see it.

Yes, I am vast, I know it and proud, but I am finite.

However, those that I sustain are infinite and don’t care about me.

I am dying as I am drying up, yet there are more uses for me.

The population of people drinking water is growing, even food produced from me too.

I am a giver, and I cannot protect myself.

This condition is excellent for exploitation. I am being exploited.

Killing me feels like killing me, but killing me is killing us.

I exist to sustain you. My non-existence is your non-existence.

I cannot save myself, but you can save me. Please, save me.

I am running of out my ability to give vitality. I am running out. (Nemo dat quod non habet)

I am a water source being run aground (Pun intended). Help!

I am Groundwater, please save me!
